Porthkerry Country Park, Cardiff 2025

This was our first weekend away with two vans. Rockstar was still unfinished, and with the night temperatures being so low, we opted to stay in Travelodge Cardiff Llanedeyrn.

We set off Saturday morning and our first pitstop was the National Botanic Garden of Wales. We had annual membership, so didn’t feel bad about making lunch in the carpark and using their toilets before continuing the drive to Cardiff.

That evening we cooked toasted cheese sandwiches by Romilly Park and then followed the interactive nature trail around the park before cycling from there to Barry Island.

Porthkerry Country Park

We spent most of the following day in Porthkerry Country Park. I wanted to see the viaduct.

From the country park you can walk down to the sea and through the surrounding woods. There’s a good playground too.
