Skanda Vale, Carmarthenshire

Categories:

Skanda Vale is a multi-faith pilgrim site that welcome everyones.

We attended a Home Education visit. We were asked not to take any photographs.

They have numerous birds and animals that live on site. Most of the animals have religious meaning in different faiths. We were treated to being able to hand fed their three resident elephants. It was an amazing experience, we watched quietly as the keeper walked all three elephants back from their daily walk. One elephant was fully blind so was being led by wrapping it’s trunk around the tail of the elephant in front.

We were given various pieces of chopped fruit and allowed to offer them to the elephants.

We also attended a Puja, which is a Hindu ceremony, like a Catholic Mass. People were given different places to sit depending on whether they are vegetarian or not and then whether the meat eaters had consumed any meat in a certain number of hours before the Puja.
