On Thursday 27th June 2002, I took Andy on a mystery location holiday. I just told him to pack for a hot week. The mystery continue even after we’d arrived at Gatwick and he discovered where were flying to Gerona as he’d never heard of the place so still didn’t know what country he was going to. It didn’t take him long to realise we were in Spain.
We took a risk with an ‘Allocation on Arrival’ holiday and found ourselves staying at the Hotel Express in Callela on a half board basis.
Barcelona
On Saturday we took the train to Barcelona and spent a very long day traipsing around. We fed the pigeons in Placa Catalunga (twice) and checked up on the progress of the Gaudi Basilica. Work begun in March 1882 and is due to be completed in 2026 so maybe we’ll need to head back soon.
That evening we watched the night time Montjuic Magic Fountain.
Tordea Market
On Sunday we visited Tordera market, which had lots of birds in cages which all looked a bit sorry for themselves.
Malgrat
On Tuesday we hired bikes and cycled to Malgrat up a really steep hill.
Wednesday was a well needed day of rest by the pool, with a new record being set of 30 seconds lilo surfing.
On Thursday we visited Lloret before flying home.
