We went for a girls weekend to Chester, with Aunty Teresa & Nanny.
We drove up on Saturday morning and had a wander around the city.
We explored the historic streets and had a look inside the Cathedral. The annual Midsummers Watch Parade was on. It is one of the UKs oldest festivals.
We stayed at the South Chester Holiday Inn.
Chester Zoo (Cheshire)
We spent Sunday at Chester Zoo where we saw lots of animals, memorable ones include:
- Baby aardvark
- Red spitting cobra
- White-lipped island pit viper
- Black jaguar
- Sumatran orangutang
We went on the boat trip around the zoo and sailed past lots of very tame families of coots and moorhens.
Pontcysyllte Aqueduct (Denbighshire)
On our way home we decided to break up the journey with a boat trip over the Pontcysyllte Aqueduct:
- the highest canal aqueduct in the world.
- the longest aqueduct in Great Britain
- 307m long (1,007ft)
- just 3.6m wide (12ft)
- 19 pillars each span is 13,6 m wide (44ft)
- 38.4 meter tall (126ft)
Abi & I also walked across the aqueduct, which last year when we visited she was too scared to do.

Our next stop was the big Charlies store in Welshpool where Nanny bought Abi a big dinosaur egg which she excavated later that day at Aunty Teresa’s.
