At low tide you can walk across the beach to St Catherines Island.
The island has a varied history, it was built in the 13th century as a fort. In modern times it has featured in numerous films and even operated as a zoo for 10 years between 1968-1978.
There is a chapel inside, and an entire floor downstairs featuring a prison room.
