1996 – Single Seater Experience
On 10th September 1996, accompanied by Andy’s brother Ed, we had our first visit to Silverstone where Andy drove a single seater race car. Ed and I chuckled as we hear the marshall over the radio say “That number 26 is going to be an absolute knightmare”.
The same day F2 racers Berger & Alessi were doing some testing for the Benetton F1 Team.
1998 – Single Seater Experience
On 1st April 1998 we headed off for our second trip to Silverstone. This time it was my turn to take the wheel of a single seater around Stoke Circuit. I wasn’t the only one battling the rain as Verstappen was also out testing his Benetton on the main circuit.
1998 TRAX
We returned in September to attend the TRAX event where we must have looked at ever XR Club under the sun. After looking at all the GT40’s and Z cars the highlight was a very quick lap of the circuit in a helicopter.
2011 – Karting
We were invited to join some friends who had arranged to drive their gearbox go karts around the main track at Silverstone. How could we possibly say no.
